The Hevreh Ensemble was formed in 2001 when oboist Judith Dansker gathered a group of highly acclaimed musicians to perform a special Selichot Concert for Hevreh of Southern Berkshire in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Hevreh Ensemble performances feature original contemporary American Jewish compositions by group member and composer Jeff Adler that combine folk, classical, jazz and world music elements. The works are often inspired by themes from Jewish Spirituality and concepts of world conservation and peace.

Performances have been called " strikingly original" and "spirtually uplifting". The group was recently awarded a grant from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation to present a series of concerts in the Pioneer Valley in Massachusetts. They are currently Ensemble in Residence at Hevreh of Southern Berkshire.
